Calcium levels in your bloodwork tell you absolutely nothing about your bones. Nothing. Zero. If your heart and other things require more calcium, it will be taken from your bones. A good level in your blood can actually mean your bones are suffering.

The only way to know is to get a bone scan. The ASMBS suggests one every two years, and it's covered by insurance, and takes about three minutes.

I was on armour thyroid for 12 years, and then switched to naturthroid about 3 years ago ( same thing as armour but no gluten, etc). I have had good results. My PCP always try to go with non synthetic meds as much as possible.
