How is the process from 1st appointment?

It's going to vary from patient to patient, primarily because of different pre-req's from insurance. Some plans require a 6-month supervised diet, others shorter, some none at all.
My insurance required a 3-month diet and some other testing I was able to do in the process. I attended my surgeon's info seminar in mid-August and had surgery on December 10.

As others have said, it will depend on your insurance and surgeon. For me, I worked my butt off to do the necessary tests and clearances, and my insurance did not require a 3- or 6- month diet. My initial consultation was June 19th and my surgery is this coming Monday, September 28th. I found out I was approved less than 2 months after the start of the process. If your doctor/insurance requires a medically supervised diet, that might be the determining factor on how much time it takes.
Best wishes!
