Sleeve to bypass
I had the gastric sleeve I June 2013 and dropped 150 pounds this put my bmi at 16% I lost way to much weight and my stomach will not hold or absorb food. Regardless of what I eat eatit instantly dumps. I had a feeding tube put on 6 weeks ago and I am hooked up ro it 15 hours a day and half only gained 5 pounds. So at 5'11" I weigh 125. My doctor now wants to convert my sleeve to a by pass and I am curious if anyone has had this done and what is the benefits of the switch? Never thought I would have to fight to actually gain weight.

So your doctor wants to add malabsorption to your list of problems? This makes NO sense.
People with the sleeve don't usually "dump" because you still have a pyloric valve. What happens to you when you "dump'?
Things have been slow around here lately. I didn't think they were this slow.
6'3" tall, male.
Highest weight was 475. RNY on 08/21/12. Current weight: 198.
M1 -24; M2 -21; M3 -19; M4 -21; M5 -13; M6 -21; M7 -10; M8 -16; M9 -10; M10 -8; M11 -6; M12 -5.
At 5'11 you'd have to weigh 115lbs to have a BMI of 16. If you weigh 125lbs and are 5'11, your BMI is 17.4. This means a huge difference when you are an anorexic or suffering from such.
Your stomach instantly dumps or you throw up? If you are throwing up then yes, your body can't absorb food it never had.
Who did your surgery - SERIOUSLY Edward Scissor Hands? Are you sure you did not get a distal bypass already? Maybe a stricture or a super teensy sleeve or an over cut and tightened sleeve? 2 years post-op, I am surprised you lived to type a gosh darn letter on your keyboard or have a breath to even speak type.
You may want to "dump" your surgeon. Malabsorption will may you skinnier and from the likes of things you are skin and bones.
Sounds to me that you have an underlying medical condition that has nothing to due with the sleeve.
The bypass is a bad decision and honestly your doctor is a nutcase to even suggest it. You don't want to lose more weight which will happen.
