WHAT DO I NEED?
If you go in your MyOH settings and add what type of surgery you are having you'll get some more specific suggestions but really... not a whole lot... you are having tablespoons for a time.
Water, some protein source (usually liquids for a time, varies from program to program, ask your dietitian for specifics generally whey isolates/lowcarb/low sugar, broths), vitamins based on the type of surgery you are having (definitely ask your Dr for his required list) beyond that... anything else would spoil before you got to those stages (pureeds, softs, etc,)
Best wishes on your upcoming WLS! It was truly the best gift I ever gave myself. Hope you will say the same.

My surgeon and nutritionist did not want me to buy or use any protein supplements, liquid, shakes, powders, nothing! The philosophy of the University of Iowa bariatric program was to concentrate on high protein foods through natural sources. Just be aware of that and don't buy too much of the pre-packaged protein prior to surgery until you know for sure what they do and do not allow.
My program did allow me to use Carnation "no sugar added" Instant breakfast to add to skim milk as a snack between meals which I still do today. In my area you can only get that in vanilla and chocolate flavors. This was the only supplement that they supported.

2 things that turned out to be essential to me - were Sugar Free Popsicles, they were cold, refreshing, solid, yet counted as a liquid. I also had nausea on and off and peppermint tic tacs helped. I would bite them and just let them melt in my mouth. The mint helped.

Definitely some sample packs if different protein powders, so you find buy a bug package and get sick of it. Also definitely sugar free popsicles. Beyond that, your vitamins and liquid or chewable versions of your daily medications. You may need a stool softener as well, although I didn't need one until I got to pureed stage.
