Pain
Hello I'm Relay and new to all this information. I just had my GB surgery on Sept. 15, 15. I'm still very sore and in a lot of pain. I haven't lost a pound or even a tenth of a pound. I also had the lapband removed at same time. This was causing issues with my body. What I want to know is everything I've mentioned above, is that normal? When will the pain stop? When will I begin to lose? Will my hair fall out? I'm looking for any info I can as I'm truly confused. And why was crushing meds in the beginning never mentioned anywhere. What a awful experience that was! Three weeks on clear liquid and still no BM. Can and should I use a softener? thanks so much.
Hi Relay2015,
Take it one day at a time, it will get better. Remember you are very swollen and it may take awhile to show weight loss on the scales. Post this on the RNY forum to reach out to those that had the same procedure as you Here is a great article that may help as well.

The no BM can be if you are taking pain medicine. I was sent home from the hospital on a stool softener.
If your hair falls out that is from the surgery. Getting plenty of protein will help it to grow back faster. Everyone does not crush meds, I know I never did.
Real life begins where your comfort zone ends
I stopped my pain meds at the hospital. My husband had a knee replaced recently and pain meds cause a lot of constipation. I also didn't take my iron for 2 days until I had a BM. I returned to taking the iron, which also causes constipation, and have not had to stop taking iron since. I have fallen into a pattern of little cannon balls every other day. I can live with that. I don't want to take any more pills.
