I had my sleeve this past Monday (9/14) and I'm SUPER glad I did. Of course, like you, second thoughts passed through my head but I knew this is best in the long haul. There was some pain (discomfort, really) at first but four days out I feel very energized both physically and mentally. Stick to it, think positive!!

Congrats Ed! You sound super - - like you said physically and mentally.  I'm happy for you.  It does sound like you made the right decision for you.  And, like everyone else here, I know I will have made the right one, too.  Thanks so much for posting.  Keep up the good work and best wishes on your recovery and journey.

Don't let them get you down or talk you out of your decision. The yo-yo part is the wort. Only someone who has been there understands the issue and frustration.

I once lost 100 pounds on protein shakes, but the minute I began eating again I gained that and more within 3 years.

Since I VSG 4 years ago, I lost 200 pounds and do not intend to gain it back! The WLS was only a tool to use to rech my goal. It isn't a quick fix. It is hard work. But so worth it!

Good luck on you journey to better health.

I was 59 when I had my DS (but think VSG is a good choice for many persons) at about the same weight parameters as you. Lots of comorbidities! All gone after surgery. If you have done your research and are clear on your options and choice, then the decision is yours. Own it (but I agree that you should be ready to forego those burgers for a long time).

I say that I am now half the size with twice the health that I had before. On my 61st birthday I climbed Mt. St. Helens...

Good luck with your journey.

Cari:

Hang in there. I didn't tell anyone except my husband I was having this surgery, I told everyone that I was having my gallbladder out. I didn't want to hear everyone's opinions, horror stories or that I didn't need it.  I loss 40 pounds before my surgery, knocked my BMI to obesity instead of morbid obesity. My doctor said he would help me with or without surgery.  When it came down to it, I can loose the weight, but I gain it back every time. The only way to loos it the weight and keep it off was to do the surgery. I had my surgery on Wed the 16 of this month. I feel great and can't wait until the weight starts to come off.

You have made the step to have this done, do this for yourself and your daughter. Good Luck!!!

Hello! You are so right and that's what I keep reminding myself.  Believe me, she is a great motivator.  And, she's so supportive, too.

Keep up the good work! Thanks again for posting.
