MInimal Weight Loss

I posted about this awhile back

I am hoping to connect with anyone else who has had minimal loss

I have had minimal loss since my surgery in January. I lost 35 pounds b4 & 35 pounds after. And ZERO since April.

I am following all of the guidelines from my clinic. We recently have tried bumping up my calories slightly to see if that helps. No change in either direction. I go back next month.

When I posted b4 I got the expected replies of you are eating too much, if you are following guidelines its impossible to not lose. I am hoping that if i pop bac****asionally & ask again I will find someone else like me. (Well not really, I hope yall all get nice & skinny)

Hi, I am sorry to hear you are having trouble with your weight loss.  Maybe if you post a normal days meal plan it could help us try and help you out.  How many proteins do you consume a day?  How many carbs and sugars? What does your exercise plan look like? Do you track your food intake on a program like My Fitness Pal? It really helps out if you do.

80+ protein

about 50 carbs (less is difficult because I am a Type 1 diabetic)

which puts me at about 1100 calories a day

I walk & do water aerobics

Many people here maintain on 1100 calories a day. From my observations from being active here almost 8 years now, successful sleevers seem to average 800 per day when in the losing phase. I would cut back on your calories.

Hi again,

Thanks for the info you have given.  I guess what I was really asking for was an actual meal plan becaus I can stay within my 750 Cal a day and hit my goal of 75+ proteins but eat the wrong foods.  I could eat less fried food instead of grilled/baked and still be within my range.  Anyways, I read through all the comments that have been given, and I agree with them.  As Grim stated, weigh your food.  Here's an example of my meal plan.

Breakfast: half a premier protein shake with half a power pak pudding fit and lean= 130 calories total, 5 carbs, 23 proteins, 1 sugar

AM snack: the other half of my breakfast

Lunch: 2oz (weighed out) of dense protein (ie. baked chicken/fish, grilled steak) and 1/4 cup of greenbeans = today was steak, so 85 cal, 2 Carb, 13 proteins, 1 sugar

afternoon snack: 1oz of dense protein = 43 cal, 0 carbs, 6 proteins, 0 sugar

Dinner: 3 oz (weighed out) of Tyson boneless skinless chicken breast strips (baked) and 1/4 cup of greenbeans = 88 Cal, 2 carb, 18 proteins and 1 sugar

Evening Snack: = 1oz (weighed out) Honey rosted mix nuts (bad choice I don't do this one often) = 160 cal, 9 carbs, 5 proteins, 5 sugars

totals = 636 cal, 23 carbs, 88 proteins, 9 sugars

My doc and Nut both state I should keep my calories around 750, some days it happens some days it doesn't but my average is very close to it.  I was also told at least 75 proteins, I ususally get that plus.  Now they didn't give me any advise on sugar and protein other than LOW so I asked folks on here. They also state for lunch only 2oz of meat and 1/2 cup of vegies (I can't eat that much yet but I'm working on it) and for dinner 3oz of meat and 1/2 cup of vegies (definately can't do all those vegies after adding another oz of meat). :)

Hopefully this menu helps a little..  and like I said earlier, I'm not quite 6 months out so I definately don't know very much but the VETs have been there and they know a lot.  I am so happy they are here to help us newbies out. Yeah, sometimes we might think they are a little rough at the way they say things sometimes but that could just be the way we read it because we know what they are saying is true (we are our toughest critics after all). I will take the "harsh" as long as I get the help from the folks who know.

Well, I hope you take some of the advice given (ie. weighing everything, tracking on a program, and trying to cut back calories).  I wish you the best and I hope your weight loss starts up again! :)

An exact menu rather than an approximation would allow us to give specific advice.

For example: Breakfast 1 hard boiled egg, snack 1 cheese stick, etc. Also, are you drinking caloric beverages? What types of carbs are you consuming?

Thanks for the offer. I'll post soon from home with that info. My 2 dieticians & diabetes educator are 100% happy with my food.

I was hoping to connect with others who have lost minimal amounts. I know its rare, but it does occur.

They are happy with your food.. But you not losing weight... Things are not ok... Sorry to tell you that...

As others said - if you can post what and when you are eating- that may give some of us better idea..

BTW - I can gain weight on 1100cal food or I can lose weight... Depends what and when I eat that.

As Hala said, they are happy, but you are not losing. I have seen and heard many nutritionists give information to post ops that is better suited to non ops. Some of them really push carbs in the form of grains, for example.

Weigh everything as Grim suggested. Write it down and add it up. Then you will have a better picture.

-To what purpose?  To commiserate?  You have had suggestions to cut your calories and adjust what you are eating and the times you are eating. You have rebutted both.  Hence, it is unclear as to what you are trying to accomplish by looking for other slow losers.  By your response, you do not appear to want solutions...
