carbs & sugar
What is your Drs/nutritionist plan for you?, they'd really be the people to ask. For me, right after surgery, the concentration was on getting in my water, vitamins & protein. Carbs wasn't a priority, & sugar definitely not a priority, but a dang good tasting luxury!
I aim for is at least 80g of protein, 80g water, carbs under 50, along with my vitamins, but I didn't reach those goals till I was way past surgery, the stages, & was healed from the surgery. Right after surgery I did what I could & got better later, consult your Dr for what is best for you.

My nut said no more than 15 grams of carbs (not sugar) in a single meal. Since my carbs are from dairy, veggies and limited fruit, the sugar contribution is low.
