Ok I do know Flintstones vitamins are a very poor choice for us and I do tell others that but I don't know how to explain it to them. Please give me the reasons why not to take them. Thankd

They're incomplete.  So they're not just low in some nutrients, but some they just don't have at all.

Flinstone complete chewables are exactly what my program has us one - plus a B complex and calcium citrate.  Wouldn't it be great if there was a standard.....

There is - it's the ASMBS.  Some programs prefer to give outdated advice, though.

That is what my program has me on too. I brought in Bariatric Advantage vitamins and they said it was too high in Folic Acid and to stick with the Flintstones. Thanks for posting this question.

What Gwen said. Not only are they crappy, overall they're crappy AND expensive. Here's a good we page on the topic:

http://thebypassedlife.com/whats-the-fuss-about-flintstones/

Let's just take one missing item from Flitstone's -- selenium. What does selenium do? Selenium is necessary for many enzymes. It helps regulate the thyroid. It works with vitamin E in essential functions. It is extremely important for immunity, and muscle repair and growth. People with low selenium levels have a much higher cancer rate.

You can take a separate selenium pill. And a separate one for all the other things that Flintstones -- and many other crappy vitamins -- are either missing or have very little of. Or you can just take good, complete vitamins that have everything you need.

Good vitamins can be inexpensive. I get mine BOGO at CVS. They cost me 12 bucks for two 360 count containers, enough to last a year.

Which vitamin do you use?  I've become annoyed with my current one and want a change!

I've been using generic CVS store brand. Same ingredients as Centrum.

I actually have my every-other-month surgeon's support group tonight, and they are doing a special presentation on vitamins and supplements. I'm hoping they have some scientific info on the patch, but I'm betting it's still new for that. But I'll let you know if they have anything interesting to tell us.

Thanks!  My current vitamins require too many pills and smell funny.

The best advice I can offer is, stop sniffing your vitamins.
