Finally found something my husband won't support me in
I don't I would sign for a year..I may try a month first.. Then maybe six months...
What if you get injured?Even a sprained ankle can prevent you from going to a gym... What then? Wouud you get a refund? what about vacation? Or family emergency?
I think I would use personal traner for a few months, to learn enough...then do it on my own..and use that money for plastics funds...or new cloths... Or shoes...

Actually I went in Thursday with an injury (caused by my own workout Tuesday), and they were able to tailor the workout around it. That's part of why I signed up -- on my own, I just see to keep hurting myself more. Any sessions I don't use in a month can carry over to future months. My doubts have been around balancing it with the plastics fund, but I decided that in the long run, how I feel is more important than how I look. I guess I'll see. If I decide to cancel, I only get 50% back, but it was enough of a savings to sign up for 12 months vs. 6 that it would almost be a wash anyway even if I only do it for 6 months.
Good points.. Plus as you mentioned - you don't lose the sesions, and can accumulate them for later...

I have been a member of VicTanny, Bally's and now LA Fitness for over 25 years. I just met with the rep concerning a personal trainer. The prices were something like $140 for one session, or $250 for 3 sessions, or a 6 month contract for an avgerage of $40 per session. He kept looking away from me while talking to me. I think he was interested in the new girl at the counter. After he said "sorry" a couple of times, I just stood up and went to work out on my own. He wasn't interested in my business probably because I told him I couldn't start for about 6 weeks. Glad it worked out for you.

I have worked out with a personal trainer 2-3 days a week for the last year. Took this last month off for surgery, but go back next week. I LOVE my personal trainer. (And believe me, you got a deal! It's money well spent if it's the right trainer for you!!!!!)
not only have I gained muscle and lost inches, I gained an entire new outlook on life, Confidence, Self Esteem. I can't wait to get back to the gym 6 days a week. Because of the work I have done with my trainer, I feel like I can physically conquer anything!
Tell hubby not not to look at it as throwing money away, but Investing that money in your health!
Good luck!!!!
The right personal trainer can be awesome. The price is not bad, actually, compared to some.
Keep track of your progress and realize you may have to educate the trainer on your specific WLS situation...
