Tailbone pain - would physical therapy help?

I'm not familiar with what kind of other PT can be done (or the benefits) for the tailbone, but if you work (in PT or on your own) to build up your gluteus muscles (all three) that will help replace some of the fat padding you have lost and will help keep the tailbone from bearing so much of your weight.

Hello, I am truly so sorry about your pain. I had EXTREEM pain after I lost my weight. I went to a speciliest, took x-rays and found out my tailbone was defective it was protruding outwards. We first tried Cortisone injections into my tailbone. That did not work so the last resort was surgery. So a part of my tailbone was removed and my problem was solved 😊                        Not saying you have this problum but have you had x-Rays etc.? Wishing you the best I hope you can get some relief!

Well, in case anyone is interested in follow up, I saw my doctor about this today. She had never heard of it as a complication of weight loss, but I told her it's really common. What prompted me to call her was that I have been contorting myself into increasingly complicated positions in an attempt to take the pressure off, and that caused ulnar nerve compression in my right elbow. Ouch! She could tell I was in a lot of discomfort just from looking at me.

I have to do a bunch of tests, blah, but we are going to try PT for sure.
