Update on my severe muscle spasms
For those that didn't see my original post, a short backgound of it. Since beginning my Supervised Weight Loss dieting, on 8/5, I have been experiencing excruciating muscle spasms throughout my body. These occur 24/7.
I saw my PCP last Friday. When I told him about my constant excruciating muscle spasms, he ordered STAT blood work and a urine test. Everything came back (in 3 hours) in normal ranges, except the Creatine K and the sodium. Magnesium, calcium, and potassium were all normal (upper end of the normal range). My sodium is low and my Creatine K is extremely high (395, normal is 20)
The Pk is a muscle problem indicator. He took me off 1 of 2 cholestrol meds I was taking (simvastatin), saying it can cause muscle problems when mixed with a high protein diet. He also changed my BP med. I have to have more blood work done on Wednesday and see the doctor again on Friday.
He gave me a script for Flexerall, a muscle relaxer, that I can take twice a day. So far the Flexerall has not helped; the spasms continue in frequency and intensity.

OMG, OMG, OMG! Something is working. I can curl my toes and wriggle/rotate both feet without a spasm! It's either due to no longer taking the simvastatin, the change of BP med, taking the muscle relaxant, drinking 8 oz/day of tonic water, or any combination of these four. It will be interesting to see if I get any body spasms today. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that my PCP has found the cause and solution to my problem.

I made it through yesterday without any muscle spasms! However, my toes still painfully lock up if I bend then downward as far as I can and my fingers still lock when I try to grip really hard. Even at that, it's greatly improved! I think my doc has me on the road to a full recovery, thank God! It will be interesting to see what my bloodwork labs show when I have the retest on Wednesday.
Word of advice to anyone taking Zocor (Simvastatin), talk to our doctor about adverse effects when on a high protien diet!
