Fit bit recommendations

PS. I recommend finding several exercises you love and help you get into "the zone"/meditative state.

I have/had a food addiction and food was a favored emotional crutch. Going to the gym and doing an activity that I enjoyed/zoned me out when faced with turmoil was helpful.  Walking would have been fun but my preffered choice was running cuz it allowed me to ruminate or zone out as needed to handle the problem.  I am not saying that running needs to be yours btw.

Anyhow, yesterday I went to the gym TWICE. Once was for my normal workout. Then I just had a bad conversation with a mentor. I went to my office, cried, looked at the emergency crackers for my hypoglacemia, thought "like hell", and then went to kick box and punched and kicked the mirror immage of the guy ahead of me in the mirror for an hour.

One activitiy would have been 320+ calories consumed...the other was 395 calories burned.

The calories burned got me a lot closer to my goal than calories consumed.

Just saying.

Sometimes exercise is "the thing" that give sanity to a world that makes no sense. Others choose houscleaning (like my sis) and still others have a beloved hobby that keeps their hands and minds busy

agree with a couple of others on here.  I love my fit*****arge HR.  HeartRate is great and the watch like closure makes it feel more secure.

I am a Jawbone user and I love it!!  However it seems like there are a ton of problems with them.  I was lucky to get a good one (going strong after 1 year)...but my boyfriend's and my daughter's died within months.  Once this goes, I'm moving to a Fitbit.  I use the Up app to track food, sleep, and exercise.

My employer gave me a FitBit "Zip" at no charge this year as part of one of their healthy living campaigns. It's not very fancy like everyone else has, but for my current purposes, it's awesome! It only tracks steps/miles (not heart rate, sleep, etc) and synchs with my iPhone app quite easily (which synchs with MyFitnessPal) so it serves its purpose well! And I love that it's so tiny. I just hook it onto the outside of my bra or waistband and forget about it. If you're looking for only counting steps without too many fancy features, I highly recommend the Zip!

I also love my Zip. I got mine on ebay (new) for $31. I did not want to spend a lot for something I was not sure I would use. I may upgrade to the charge HR someday, but for now, the Zip fits all my needs.

I'm thinking the same! Well, I told myself my reward for ONEderland will be an Apple Watch, since it does both the fitness aspect as well as all of the other fancy features.  Only 100+lb to go! By then, they'll be cheaper, right?? LOL

I got the new Fit*****arge a month ago (in purple) and love it! $150 The surge has the gps option for runs, but it's 100$ more and I'm more of a dancer/elliptical than runner.  I'm also a stats junkie and I love how it works with my phone and motivates me to do 5 more minutes or get to 12000 steps with exercise, etc.

Thank you for all of the suggestions! I've been eyeing the Fit*****arge HR Wireless on Amazon for awhile now. I think that may be the one because of the wrist band. I have a fear of it falling off somewhere without me noticing and I can't afford to lose $150. I can't wait to get started! I feel like I am an exercise nut trapped in a fat girls body..she's just dying to be free and sweat on an elliptical without her knees hurting..
