Is there anyone else who is long term post gastric bypass(13 years for me) who felt like they were dying from an extremely low ferritin level (4)?  Today is my first iron infusion.

Low Ferritin numbers are fairly common after WLS.  Some of us simply do not absorb iron from supplements.  I have had three infusions.  I take double doses of Iron to slow the downward spiral after an infusion.  It's been two years since my last one.  I will probably need another one some time this year.  My PCP orders infusions when my Ferritin gets below 50.  She says there is no good reason to let my numbers get so low that I feel like crap.  Ferritin numbers below 50 start to show symptoms of fatigue and RLS in me.

I have a few days with a little nausea and headaches after the infusions, but then I feel like a MILLION BUCKS!

You are going to feel SO much better.
