Ridiculous.  Do we really want the government telling us what to eat?  I think they have enough control over what we do already.  This in no way dissuades smokers from smoking nor people from drinking.

As someone who tries so hard to eat only healthy, I'm in favor of a junk food tax....OR better yet, make healthy food as cheap as junk food is! Fresh fruits and veggies and Non-GMO, organic food is expensive! If it was as cheap as the $1 box of processed junk that could feed a family of 4, more people would buy food that was truly healthy for them.

Some families do not have the funds to feed 100% healthy meals. Maybe if the government made those healthy options more attainable to all, particularly those living in poverty, there would be less obesity at the poverty level...where more than half the people are obese and over 33% of children are obese.

Just my opinion.

Absolutely NOT!  Overeating, in my opinions, as wells as others, is an addiction just as alcohol and drugs are addictions.  Drugs of course, are NOT taxed but many are illegal and people still use and convicted for possession and use.
