Surgery 8/19/2015 and cannot tolerate whey protein
Hi I am new to the site and I am wondering if there is anyone else who cannot tolerate whey protein, it makes me terribly sick. My surgery is coming up quick (8/19/15) and I need to find a good soy or vegetable protein that is not gritty. Please help, if you know of any brands or have any advice, I would love to hear it. Need help asap! God Bless

I get the soy protein powder from Trader Joe's, the texture is a bit easier for me to handle than other brands. They have unflavored (which is good in soup), and a vanilla kind that I usually add to milk.
Check your local vitamin store, they often sell single-serve pouches of different brands. That way you can try a few kinds without committing to buying a big tub.

I am allergic to dairy and soy... I use egg white proteins, and vegan proteins.
Check Vega brand , Orgain (Costco carry the chocolate) . these 2 brands are best tasting, IMO.

Syntrax is the only whey protein I can tolerate thus far.
im picking up Protein Ice today which is whey, 42g per serving, is more juice than milky, o see how that goes.
i can't stand the strong stevia flavour of Vega brands. I love SunWarrior (vegan).

Something changed inside me right after my surgery and I couldn't tolerate any type Whey protein. When I saw my doctor on my 10th day post op appointment he told me to look for "Isopure" or Isolate. I found some at GNC, the Vitamin Shoppe, and Sprouts. The Vitamin Shoppe has a smaller package with the product Nectar. which the man at Sprouts was surprised I wasn't offered to try out.
My surgeon said "Isolate is a thinner product, fruit flavored, and somewhat like a Gatorade product." I just found out about the smaller package of Nectar so going to try it.
I'd love to see what others have to say here.
I hope you find something that works for you.
Thanks FitnTexas,
I have found that the Premier Protein (30 g protein) bars has been easy for me to tolerate. Much more pleasant tasting too. I see my surgeon tomorrow for my 1 month check up and plan to talk to him about this choice. I found them in Walmart, and for less than most other protein bars.
