Hey. I see that you are in Madison which is over by Huntsville. I dated a guy from there once.  I know the road, "Wall-tierena" like the back of my hand. Occasionally I still have dreams where I am driving down it.

Anyhow, You are really close to Nashville TN. Have you looked there?  Is there something where you HAVE to stay in Alabama.

PS...Huntsville is MY FAVORITE city in Alabama. If only I could have lived there.

And you also have the HUntsville chargers Hockey team!

Hi dear, still getting use to the drive styles of the city. Since i relocated here it has been an experience.  I have tried Nashville but i will researched the doctors.  Do you have any suggestions?  Thank you for your help.

There drive styles are pretty normal. Not as aggressive as atlanta.

The thing is..since the city is built between the mountain and military base, it has more frontage roads than you can shake a stick at! I found the frontage roads confusing.

I don't think the other poster thought you were going for a revision out of vanity but was indicating that your tool works if used properly.

However if there's a complication or a mechanical failure of your pouch then you might qualify for a revision. Maybe that's the problem you're running into when surgeons don't want to do the revision. Maybe you just need to get re examined just to make sure everything works the way it should & that your bloodwork is ok & you're not deficient in something.

Have you checked with your ins? Some plans only pay for 1 wls, otherwise you'll have to pay out of pocket. Your ins should have a list of places you can go that's nearby. Check out the revision forum for more ideas.

No one surgery is better than the other, what works for one may not work for another. T-Rebel

-However, the state of AL, does not seem to be progressive

Which is why I got the hell out of there!

Seriously though, I have a friend from AL who also had weightloss surgery. She was originally from Montgomery. Would you be able to travel there?

I will inquire for you with her tomorrow at church. Hang tight until then!

-Skinny who also knows what it is like to relocate to Alabama. Notably, 90% of the people are nice but it is the politicians and a few others in positions of power that make it rough.

I would go to a teaching hospital and/or research bariatric centers of excellence in your geography.

I would see if a bariatric or GI doctor would perform an endoscopy.  They can see the size of your pouch and measure it.  Many people can eat larger amounts and assume their pouch has stretched, but that is not usually the case.  I'm just 6 years out but had an endoscopy recently and my pouch is "normal" and not stretched - so I still have restriction.

Many bariatric physicians want to see that you are dedicated to losing weight and changing your lifestyle.  Most of us had to go on a pre-op diet (mine was for 6 months) and I had to lose a prescribed amount of weight and have psychiatric testing to see if I was a good candidate to stay on the bariatric program.

I would start a food journal and write down everything you eat.  Add the calories, grams of carbs and protein and the ounces of fluid you have.  Weigh daily and write your weight in your journal.  Post your exercise type and duration in the journal.

My bariatric maintanence plan is:

1200-1400 calories a day with 100-130 grams carbs and 80 grams protein.  Make sure you do not go over those limits.

Since you need to lose weight - I would lower the calorie amount (maybe to 1000 calories and the grams of carbs to 60-80 grams a day)

You might want to omit white sugar (in processed food, too), white flour, white potatoes, pasta, fast food, processed food, food with high calories but low nutrition.

If you can take 6-8 weeks of this sort of documentation with you - it would help the doctor realize you mean business and you will be losing some weight and gain control or at least see where you could make changes - be aware of what you are eating.

I wish you the best,

Penny
