The movie "Fed Up" - What's Your Opinion?
I liked it, although another poster did point out that there were a few inconsistencies in the movie that was not based on fact. She posted a link to it awhile back. If you use the search button you might be able to find it.
I did think overall it did have a point. Like the fact the percentage in regards to sugar, based on RDA recommendations isn't listed, but most everything else is. I think that should change, especially when sugar is put into so many foods that don't even need it.

Thanks! I did try searching before posting but couldn't find anything. I'll try again because I'm interested in her viewpoint. Yes, they definitely need to list all amounts and ingredients. We drove from TN to ND last year and saw field after field after field of corn. Now I know why! I had no idea that corn was used to make fructose. When I saw that fact in the movie, I had a "oh duh" moment.
For anyone with a Netflix account, it is available for streaming. I haven't seen it yet, but I think I'll be watching it sometime over the next few days.

I think I might have been the one to post about the factual issues with "Fed Up," that seems like something I'd do :)
This website (one of my favorite science resources!) gives some good background. Bottom line is that there's no correlation-- much less causation-- between sugar consumption and obesity rates. (Example: there are 17 nations with higher rates of obesity than the USA, but NONE of them rank higher in per-person sugar consumption.)
This site-- home to an organization that researches nutrition-- lays out some of the more outright-false claims made by the movie. For example, the film says that more people will die in a year of obesity-related illness than starvation. That's statistically incorrect: in 2009, over 8.8 million people died from starvation, while the *****ports that 2.8 died from obesity-related causes. There are a LOT of factual errors with the claims, and they're easily disputed with some basic statistics.
