Pre-Surgery Weight Loss

I wasn't super strict during my 3 month supervised diet, but I went hardcore as soon as I got my surgery date. I knew that if I gave myself even one meal off my plan I'd go totally off the rails, and I didn't want to sabotage myself so late in the game.

Thank you everyone for your personal story. It is very helpful and motivating.  I got this!

Honestly -- I had no weight loss goal prior to surgery -- but I did decide to eat 'like a post op' to the best of my ability.

I stopped drinking carbonated beverages, I stopped drinking at all while I ate.

I switched to smaller plates and utensils, I weighed and measured my food in the kitchen and then took it to the table.

I lost 18 pounds in 6 weeks -- and I went out for a really nice meal about 3 days before my surgery -- that was the only 'last supper' I had.

There is no food that I cannot eat -- no food that I had to really 'say goodbye' to --- there are some foods that I CHOOSE not to eat -- but no reason to have any 'food funerals' for me.

I went to one fast food place (that I had not gone to for over 2 year????) and one ice cream store.

I kept reading how you couldn't have salads and steaks for a long time after surgery, so that is what I wanted.  (I seldom eat steaks--do you see a pattern)

It seems, if I should not have it I want it.  I am 3 days past surgery and my head hunger is for shrimp - one of the last things you can digest.  I think I will be going to a psych soon:)
