So my period is starting soon and I went on the scale today and I've gained 3lbs back....is that normal??? I freaked out a little and was like WTF?!!!!! so yeah figured I'd ask.

It's called bloating.  Unless you've been eating off plan, yes, it's completely normal to retain water during your cycle.

I had a feeling that's what it was, I just wanted to make sure b/c I've been eating more protein than I was and you know in my head eating more = gaining weight, even if it is what I'm supposed to be eating!

Hormonal fluctuations are completely normal.  Stick to the plan and you'll be fine.
