sorbet? yes please
Ok so I am in NO way affiliated with the company that makes the Ninja but I have to say DH and I got one a few weeks ago and we love it. We bought it in hopes it will help with pre and post op meal plans and i hope it will. I have been making our ice cream alternative. Frozen fruit (i prefer strawberries) then add anything you can think of that is no calorie or low calorie. I put a little water and lime juice. Then blend away. It makes an awesome sorbet. Bananas are also good- they blend into a creamy almost ice cream like consistency. I think it
will endup being a great tool before and after surgery. Does anyone else have one or a vitamix? Has it helped in your journey?
I used to make blender" ice cream" all the time for the kids. Our freezer always had baggies of frozen bananas ready to go. My daughter loves blue berry ice cream, sons and husband always wanted mint chocolate chip (mint extract, chocolate nibs) and I always loved vanilla pistachio. Try adding extracts for some fun flavor adds. and we always use frozen bananas as the base.

you might as well be eating ice cream. Fruit is pure sugar and your body treats it as such. As long as you are putting pure sugar in,your body will not burn off your stored fat.
Try to avoid drinking calories. You can pack a lot of calories, and sugar, into ice cream like this, and ice cream is the same as drinking.
Eggface has some good protein ice cream recipes that are much healthier.

The Cleveland Clinic actually has a whole seminar that is required of WLS patients advising against drinking/blending fruits -- the sugar content is very high and contraindicated in my plan.
If it works for you and your plan, that's wonderful.

We all have to relearn. It doesn't help that the national food pyramid is also incorrect, yet shoved down our throats, and that we are taught early on that we HAVE TO HAVE certain foods in our diets to get our vitamins and nutrients. To simplify, you can get everything you need from meats and fish, eggs, lower sugar dairy, and lower carb green veggies. You don't need fruit, whole grains, copious amounts of milk, etc. It all just comes with extra sugars and unhealthy carbs.
I recently got a low score on the eating habits portion of a health and behavior survey we have to do for my company if we want a slight discount in our health insurance premiums. I got the low score because I don't eat as many servings of fruits and vegetables as they say I "need"! Six servings of combined fruits and veggies a day?!? Not for most people and CERTAINLY not for someone who has had WLS!
