I also just had my surgery. 8 days after now. The gas pain is horrible. Once you have your first BM its  a lot easier. But I found the more I get up and walk the more I can re-leave it. I also found that eating ricotta cheese was the best and settle for my stomach and easy to add protein powder of shake to it. Good luck.

I'm glad ur doing so much better. It does get better the further a long you get. I remember those first few days of holding my stomach every time I got up & down just so that it wouldn't hurt so much & I could try to support my stomach in some way. I knew I made real progress when I was finally able to sleep on my stomach! Aaahhh that felt so good!

Like the op said, never trust a fart!

I also had RNY on 7-13-15.  I was a champ in the hospital.  Less than 12 hours later I was making laps around the ward.  I was walking close to a 1/4 mile every hour and a half.  My lap times were getting quite fast.  Then........I went home on the 15th.  OMG, I miss the dilauded. I went back in on the 17th with a infection starting in my main site, they cut it back open and expressed it.  I almost "expressed" my thoughts with violence. lol Now that that pain is gone, I have "a" ab muscle deep down that feels like it is ripping every time I move.  Taking 10 steps is unbearable. Eating and drinking is fine.  Bowels seem fine. I am just ready to go.  Right now I am loving greek yogurt with one scoop of strawberry protein, and strawberry watermelon Mio.  Its about 22 grams of protein.  Then I switch the yogurt out for SF pudding.
