First day after coming home from the hospital

I'm doing MUCH better than I was doing the last few days.. I didn't really ever believe how much the gas pain was going to be.. but it was horrible!! No kind of pain medication helped at all. AT ALL!! :(

I was finally able to fart Wednesday morning and was able to sleep last night. (I didn't get any sleep from 13-15th. The pressure was that bad)

Today is much better and now I've had two premier proteins, a propel, and water so far today with my chewable vitamins. 2 neat side effects from surgery is that I don't have hunger and my body temperature (funny story, I thought I was having a fever but once I used my thermometer, I found out my temp was 97.5!). I'm officially a cooler person! :D

Hopefully the main port pain (more of a mild burning sensation if my binder rubs it wrong or I move just wrong) will go away soon. Thanks for all the nice comments that I saw when I was suffering!

(Btw the hospital rainbow jello was nasty, so was the beef broth)

I'm glad you're home. The first few days stink, but it will be a little better every day. Just remember, you had major surgery, and eating very little, so it will be a while before you really feel back to normal.

Walk and drink. You may not feel like either. Do it anyway.

Its amazing how surgery makes the little things more important.  Like passing gas, bowel movements and temperatures.  LOL  But I am glad you are doing better.  Its hard the first few days but it very quickly gets easier.  And now you can make your own jello.  :)  Like everyone says, walk walk walk, sip sip sip.  Get plenty of sleep and try to remain calm and relaxed about everything.

Glad your home. I have heard the gas pain is horrible. I guess I was a lucky one and didn't have that. I was extremely sleepy for days following my surgery. After the first week I started feeling more normal again. My first week I was on nothing but clear liquids. So no premier shakes that first week. I could not stand the clear protein drinks. I got out of the hospital after just spending one night in the hospital. All I had at the hospital was a bottle o crystal light lemonade and it was so sweet to me I had to water it down.

Everyday does get better!

I had a great morning chuckle at your expense and I'm not one bit sorry!  You are such a love for sharing your experience with us and think it's awesome that you hold nothing back (ooops, pardon that pun).

Keep up the good work kiddo.

Sandie
