Hello All,

New to this forum. Can anyone provide a comparison of vsg to gallbladder removal? Especially in terms of pain and down time. I've had my gallbladder removed and trying to figure out what to expect. Thanks

You may get a better response if you post thus un the VSG forum. I am pre-op, but what I gave read here suggests the pain is similar fir done and the VSG is less painful girl others. So far I haven't heard anyone complain about serious pain post-op.

I had them both done on separate occasions.  VSG was a little more difficult for me, but not by very much.  I am almost 3 weeks out from my VSG and I feel great!  It took about one week to feel like myself again.

Tell the truth shame the devil took me about a month to be out of pain and two month before I was 100% myself again after surgery. I'll be the first to tell you not to listen to anybody's advice on recovery because everyone's body is different I had expectations of being ok within a week based off what other people told me, and that just wasn't the case for me! But haven't had my gallbladder removed so I can't give u a comparison but I can tell you not to base your expectations on others people's experiences

I had gallbaldder done in 1999 and VSG in 2013 - very comparable with both the pain and the down time.  I went back to work quicker post-gallbladder removal.  You'll need more time with VSG so you can get stable on fluids and nutrition.
