5 years out--needing something--diet advice

If you are like me if you use a quick weight loss scheme to lose this weight, it will creep right back on.  The minute you are off the diet.  You have to try legitimate ways to lose weight.  Losing weight the old fashion way just leads to a longer lasting maintenance.  I know probably not what you want to hear.  But it is what happened to me before surgery with all these stupid quick weight loss diets.

Unfortunately, I have yet to find a healthy, sustainable, fast and easy way to lose weight.

The best way is to try find a way to make fast easy meals/ snacks and stay away from the crap.  Stay active...jog in place or something when you are studying.  Who cares if you look weird to others.  I jog in place at my desk...people got used to it.  They now think it's normal.

When there's a will, there's a way.

Hi

i would try (and actually should listen to my own advice because I have a five pound gain as well after maintaining for three years) cutting out carbs and going high protien.  For my sleeve the food that keeps me full for the longest is meat/poultry protien.  I could get by going real low cal by doing that and having snacks on low cal filling veggies like cucumbers, broccoli and Brussels sprouts.  If you are short on time my thought would be shop/cook on the weekend for a few days out.  I'd have turkey sausage for breakfast, maybe with an egg.  For lunch I'd buy a rotisserie chicken and have it for lunch a few days - chicken salad, chicken with a little BBQ sauce, chicken with peanut satay sauce in lettuce leaves...for dinner I'd pick up from Trader Joes a bag of frozen turkey meatballs and have that a few times, I'd have salad with Perdue redi to eat cooked chicken, some meat sauce without pasta (can order take out)....I would see after doing that for a number of days if the scale moves in the right direction.  I'd also up my drinking and would go back to my regular treat in the first year out from surgery - ice coffee and iced tea.  At five years out it is really hard to go back to portions like year one - but your best chance in getting there will be with dense foods.  If you really use your tool you shouldn't be walking around hungry.  Your story always inspired me and I loved all your pics of your journey.  Now if I could just get that carb monkey off my back!!!
