Pre-op Question.
Every surgeon has a different protocol it seems, but common items (in addition to taking lots of blood, of course) are an abdominal ultrasound, an EKG, and respiratory tests. Sometimes they also do stress tests.
The biggest amount of time, though, is often consumed by waiting since you have to go to a different department for each item (lab for blood work, respiratory therapy, imaging, etc.), check in, wait to be called, get the test done, then go to the next department, etc.
Some pre-op visits also include an informational session by a nurse or someone from the surgeon's office.

You don't drown by falling in the water. You drown by staying there.
my surgeons office does the same thing. my preop is scheduled from 9-3. three hours of nutrition and procedure overview. then labs and ekg. then back to see the surgeon with results from lab and last minute questions. they also give the option to purchase protein during the preop so they go over that as well.
Sorry I can't help with that one. I had all my blood tests, classes, meeting with NUT, Phych, internist, etc done previously. My Pre-Op took all of 20 minutes. They just took my co-payment, fitted me with the stretchy velcro belly wrap thingie, gave me the lung exerciser thingie and told me what time to come back. Easy-Peazy.
