If you had LAP surgery, you probably are bandage free at this point and this might be useless info. I had open surgery and came home with a feeding tube that was in for 6 weeks, so I had bandages for a long time.
I had a reaction to the adhesive on the tape that was used to bandage the incisions. I found that a "paper type" tape was a little less irritating than the mesh or plastic coated tapes. You will have to change the bandages more often with paper tape because it's not as sticky. I also used a snug tank top to hold bandages in place so I didn't have to use any tape.

I tend to be allergic to adhesives as well, it's absolutely miserable!
I second the suggestions for Benadryl and itch cream. I'm a fan of the Aveeno itch cream with oatmeal in it, it works well on skin allergies for me. The lotion should help you keep from scratching at it-- that'll only make it worse :(

Going thru the same thing!! I am 9 days out and went to see the doc today to find out I am allergic to the dermabond they used. I am also allergic to the steri strips so we thought the glue was OK, NOPE!! They told me 25mg of benadryl every 6 hours to help with the itches. All adhesives bother my skin and now we add one more to the mix. I told the doc that if I every have to have surgery again they will stitch me up and leave me alone!!
So glad that I'm not the only one . Congrats on your surgery hope your healing goes well . I feel like I'm allergic to life lol I should have thought I would be allergic to the steri strips being I'm allergic to the adhesive on the medical tape I can only use paper tape -.- I second your thought on just stitching me up and leaving me alone ! That's totally going to be my motto from here on out as far as surgeries are concerned . They called me in a cream called mometazone it's supped to take down the inflammation an stop the itching so far it just burns and feels like it's drying it out, *sigh* story of my life ... But again thank you for making me feel like I'm not alone xoxo
