Some people do regain... life happens and often we reach for the comfort we are used to, or we become non-compliant, or slide back into habits, or an injury or illness sidelines you, this is a journey for life and sometimes you have to stop and reassess and make adjustments.
Complication rates are low... about the same as most surgeries.
You definitely are on an emotional rollercoaster a bit and if your mental health is an issue you will want to work closely with all your Dr's to adjust medications and prepare you for the changes ahead.

I will add... Obesity and obesity related conditions can kill you too. Those were scarier to me. That was a given. I was already suffering from many.
