I will invest in a hard sited cooler. There are these coleman xtremes and I think they look about the right size and had a review of keeping the food cold for hours at 98 degrees.

the trainer skater position is getting expensive and I havent even stepped on the ice yet in the sense that I have had to buy a fake hair bun (hair for practice is required to be in a bun so we all look alike and my hair is short!), a hard sided cooler, and warm ups.

I hope the money I save, the better nutrition, and the calories I am not eating make up for it!  Living the dream is spendy!

I appreciate ALL of the responders questions. I already got some great meal ideas (frozen cooked chicken and some lettuce for a salad, tuna in pouches).  This looks feasible. I dont think i am going to get tired of the food.

And the frozen water bottles is primo!

We do a lot of offroading and last year a guy had popsicles still frozen in his YETI at the end of the day's ride. Granted, that's extreme, but high-quality coolers are out there that'll keep things nice and cold.

If it is hot (although not that hot!) and I know I won't be able to eat straight away, I freeze things. So I might have two bottles of water and a ham sandwich in the freezer overnight. Then wrap them up together or put them in a cool box. If in the latter, the bottles of water take some time to thaw and keep everything chilled.

Highest 290, Banded - 248   Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.

Happily banded since May 2006.  Regain of 28lbs 2013-14.  ALL GONE!

But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,

Richmond, VA?? If it is, message me. I can give you ideas on where to eat near the ice rink that are not expensive and are healthy.

Otherwise, I would get a hard plastic cooler and freeze water bottles and use ice packs like the others have said.

They also have the coolers that plug into your cig lighter, if your cig lighter works while the car isn't running.  I use mine when traveling and I live in Southern AZ (HOT, HOT, HOT) but not as Hot as PHX. LOL  Good Luck and congrats on the trainer skater position!
