Every year in school, teachers would tell us that before Columbus, everyone thought the world was flat. Totally wrong. But everyone taught it, and most believed it. It SEEMED to make sense, right? I mean, there appears to be logic there. It just had zero basis in fact.

Some things, on the surface, SEEM to make a lot of sense. Like marriage, and the Republican Party. But when you look a little closer, they're just plain wrong.

You made me snort tea out my nose.

I feel the same way.

Eggs are bad; No! They are good! No, they are bad, always were bad, we were wrong before, folks!

Diet soda is dehydrating!  Wait! It IS hydrating because there is water in it. Diet soda is a good replacement for soda and will help you lose weight through elimination of excess calories! Nope! We were wrong folks, that fake sugar causes an insulin release that later causes you to pack on the pounds!!!!

I get so sick of "food science".  I really do.

Basically, I try to stick with the natural/real food on the perimeter. If it was made in lab (or processed a lot...as determined by me and my every moving criteria) I just dont buy it or eat it. Since I have adhered to that, along with exercise, and my surgery/plan, all my numbers have improved and I have lost weight.  I am off medication and only take my vitamins.

And as far as my anxiety, meditation and exercise help with it. Basically, when I want to scream/throw something or kick a wall, I know I had better go for 4+ mile run or attend some cardio kickbox class FAST.

But I DO understand your desire to figure it all out. You have puzzle pieces that look like they should fit (I.e. they are the same color, are border pieces, and came out of the same box) but they aren't fitting well.  I tried to figure it out for about 3 years. I really did. Then I got frustrated, gave up, and moved on. My brain power is put forth writing science at a fourth grade reading level...

Exercise alone does not promote weight loss.  Eating right and exercise is key to success, but be aware if you quit exercising reduce calories accordingly or risk regain.  I cannot commit to many forms of exercise due to serious hip issues so I live on restricted calories to maintain my loss.

I agree with you 100%.  I have found that exercise was a CRUCIAL component to my getting all the way down to my goal weight, and also for my maintaining my weight loss.  I agree that even though nutrition is the most important element in weight control, exercise increases our metabolism both during and for a period of time following exercise, and just as important, it creates a positive attitude that promotes healthier choices. I had a minor surgery where I couldn't do my regular exercise, and I gained weight even though I didn't increase my food. Once I got back to exercising on a regular basis, my weight stablized again.

Thanks for standing up for exercise!   I'm a big proponent of it to help maintain what we've achieved.
