Had surgery 5/6/15, had very hard time with nausea and vomiting first three days. Still having issues and having hard time getting down what is required. Looking for high protein powder. Any suggestions?

Which surgery?

Highest 290, Banded - 248   Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.

Happily banded since May 2006.  Regain of 28lbs 2013-14.  ALL GONE!

But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,

So sorry to hear you've been struggling with nausea.  That can make it tough to get in enough water...which then leads to more nausea.  So work really hard to get in all your liquids.

I swear by Unjury (unjury.com).  I tried a lot of protein powders and couldn't tolerate the taste of any of the ready-to-drink ones and didn't like the foaminess of a lot of the other powders.  My husband really likes Syntrax Nectar Cappuccino flavor.

I second the Syntrax, I get the "fuzzy navel" kind and mix it with orange Crystal Light.

Definitely need to know what surgery.  Have you contacted your doctor?  With some possible complications vomiting can be a result, so you will want to let them know it is happening.

What are you trying to eat or drink?  What has your doctor prescribed as your diet and for how long?  What amounts of protein and liquid is he requiring each day?  Sometimes if you are already dehydrated you become more nauseous and go into a spiral.  It might mean you just need a quick iv

The #1 cause for nausea early post op is dehydration.  Your body needs 64oz of fluids daily.  There is no working up to this btw, a day or two is all it takes to feel it.  Everything wet counts, so drink whatever appeals to you.  Protein drinks count, too.  If you're still feeling icky, I highly recommend a pre-made drin****il you're feeling better.  The smell of whey powder can be a bad deterrent.
