Not getting my protein in

Thanks everyone.  Seems to me like I needed a little better training from my NUT. So I appreciate all of you who say things like "no fruit till you meet your goals." I went back to having a protein drink for breakfast today.

Wateremelon, banana and toast are taking up precious room and not doing you any favors.  Start eating strategically to get the most bang or your small pouch.  Ricotta cheese is my favorite and your standard 1/2 cup will give you 14g right there before you add anything else.  You can add an egg and tomato sauce with a little mozzerella for lasagna innards and 20+g.  You can add SF pudding and a little milk for a protein punch pudding.

First off congrats on your surgery. We had the same surgeon. I absolutely love Dr  Z! He's fantastic. On a second note. I have been having a hard time getting all my protein in as well. I'm 6 weeks post op. Surgery was 4-15-15. My issue was I had pain when eating and couldn't even handle liquids so protein shakes were out of the question. Come to find out I had a stricture. Just had an endoscopy to take care of it Fri and have to have another in 2 weeks. Since then though I have found adding protein powder to Greek yogurt, chili, almond milk, things like that has helped me get most of it in! Hope you find something that works for you.

I LOVE watermelon. Seriously, one of my favorite foods. But even at 11+ years post-op, it fills me up SO fast. At two months out, it's taking up far too much space to be worth eating.

You need to focus on eating animal-based protein FIRST every time anything goes into your mouth. Eat an egg or some bacon instead of peanut butter and banana toast. Eat meat instead of watermelon OR cauliflower pizza. (Yeah, I KNOW it's good, but it's not good FOR YOU just yet.) Instead of squash, eat MORE chicken.

And---don't panic. What's your daily protein goal? At two months out, most surgeons don't really expect you to be hitting it consistently just yet.
