Ladies- question for you...

I'd say it's fairly common. Hair loss really seems to kick in for many people at month 3 or 4, though the amount varies a bit.
I had a short pixie cut before surgery, and I think it made a lot of the loss easier to handle. I did have to fill in a few bare patches, but the worst was over by 9 months and I've been able to grow it out since.

I shaved my head to raise money for charity about 6 weeks post-op. As a result, I've never had a problem with hair loss, since I haven't had enough hair to notice!

I did, I cut off 14" and then donated the hair to locks for love. Now that my hair is short I don't know if I will grow it long again.

I know that you lose hair after surgery. I started shaving my head a few months ago because it's hot and I don't want to deal with my hair. It was so long ( past my shoulders) and I just decided to do it. I will say that it's really not bad being bald. People give you compliments and you really do become accustomed to basically taking 5 min showers and running out the door. It's pretty nice. So, even if you decide to cut it all off and go bald for just a few months, it wont be bad. Its all about the confidence.
