Garcinia Cambogia - Veterans responses only
I got my surgery 6 years ago and lost 185 lbs and holding steady. I can tell you that nothing works as well as good old fashion eating healthy and exercise.
Have I tried these lose weight schemes in the past. Sure. They never worked. The only thing that worked other than WLS. Was a doctor supervised diet where I took Phentermine. I lost weight and I didn't regain. But I didn't lose enough weight. That's when I turned to WLS.
You got so much good advice here. I think you should really take some of it.
I hear you about being regular. It's the main reason I eat fruit and veggies. But fruit doesn't cause me any problems as far losing weight. Not to mention it really fills me up and I feel nice and full for awhile.
My advice to you is to increase your activity. Really think about what the other poster said about toning up your muscles. It makes a big difference in appearance and it makes regain harder.
I'm not a long-term vet as I just had my bypass in January 2014, but I'd like to chime in in support of adding weight lifting. Two months ago I started with a personal trainer at a gym and have been running and weight lifting every other day since then. My weight is about the same, but I dropped from a size 8 to a size 6, and now my size 6 is pretty loose. I'm obviously losing fat and gaining muscle (plus, I have visibly muscular arms). My eating hasn't changed much. It will change your body composition, ramp up your metabolism, and might get the ball rolling for you. Might be best to spend your money on a personal trainer rather than a supplement. If you, like me, flinched when people are seriously suggesting that fruit has too many carbs to be in your daily diet (I just had a Goldrush apple and smoked cheddar cheese for lunch, it was delicious), add some rocket fuel to your metabolism by adding weight training to your life. Remember to consume a whey protein drink immediately after weight lifting for maximum recovery.
Also, there's some interesting research that showed people who exercised in the morning on an empty stomach didn't gain weight even when their calories were increased by 30%. The ones who exercised the same amount later in the day gained weight, though not as much as those who didn't exercise at all. This doesn't say anything about losing weight, but it was strong enough evidence for me to drag my lazy butt out of bed and to the gym on an empty stomach 3-4 days a week. I don't break my fast until I chase it with whey protein. Sounds like you might be doing that with your morning walk, but wear a heart rate monitor and make sure it's truly aerobic and intense enough to have the desired effect.
Ohhh thanks for the great post! I honestly didn't feel like I've been eating that bad but since i got some good and "interesting" advice/comments I'll look at tighting up on that and def look into some serious weight training. I'd personally rather eat a little fruit each day and work out harder than be backed up and cant do #2. Thanks again for helping me look at a different perspective!
You have heard a lot from a bunch of people. I am going to repeat it as it is true for me. (I'm a vet of the band and of many diets, but not at this current goal)
You eat WAY too many sugars. You are afraid of getting backed up, but you have a ton of sugars and very little leafy greens. You should try cutting out all fruit, even the apple, and replace it with more green veggies. Asparagus, spinach, broccoli, cauliflower, brussel sprouts...These all have carbs, but they are high fiber carbs, not sugar carbs, and they will keep you regular and bring your carbs down. You also should try cutting the cream stuff in half. Maybe only do breakstones 2 or 3 times a week. The rest of the time do a single egg omelette maybe with some ham and spinach. And you need to try to double your water intake. You might not get there, but trying to double it means you are getting way more than what you are taking in now.
And double your movement. You have lost quite a bit. You are a short distance to goal. You should be able to move a lot more! So get up and do it! Enjoy that new body you have.
Don't do one, or the other. Do it all. Don't waste money on something you have the ability to do on your own right now. And save the apples for a treat every now and then. you can cook them and mash them up with cinnamon for a little apple sauce, or bake them for a mock apple tart. But to eat it every day is unnecessary sugar, along with the morning sugary fruit and the milk sugars from the cottage cheese...You are giving you body all the fuel it needs to get through the day, so why burn fat stores?
I cannot answer your question for a review as I do not believe in chemicals and I do not take them. What I can say is it took me 2.5 years to reach goal and those last 40 pounds were the toughest. I had my tummy tuck at eighteen months out, they took off about six pounds of skin which never seemed to show up on the scale given you swell forever. But I did go on to reach 138 and remain here ever since and I am now ten years out. It's a slow process but you can do this.
