Strengthening your butt muscles will help some...

I am 7 years post op - the pain gets better.  But even after I regained 20 lbs - I still need to use pillows, cushions, etc. Even in my car (leather seats). Like a skinny person - I learned to balance on one or another cheek.. while sitting...I hate hard chairs.. but I can sit on one for 15-20 minutes if I need to.

trying to increase your muscles in the butt... that helped me more than anything else...

I figured it wouldn't go away totally, but if I can use cushioning and exercise I can deal with it. Myfitnesspal added exercises specifically for butt strengthening today. (I couldn't believe it. Just when I needed it!) Thank you for your experience!

I got the same one Gwen posted-- think I might have been the first to recommend that one, actually, and it was SUPER helpful! I started using it at about 3 months out, and by maybe 7 or 8 months post-op I didn't need it anymore. By that point, my tailbone wasn't nearly so sore, PLUS my hemorrhoids weren't much of a problem anymore.

I do find that my backside gets kind of sore when I stay in the same spot with bad posture on a not-super-squishy sofa recently. But I've definitely become used to it, and I can just sit on a regular sofa pillow once in a while :)

I ordered on today! Too bad I didn't order one like you did at 3 months out.  I hope I am like you and can get used to it.  Thanks for your reply and the cushion recommendation!

I've been using the glute machine at the gym for months, but I'm just not building any padding.  I think I have a serious case of no-butt syndrome!

Thanks for posting this question. I am in the same boat. I find myself trying to drive home from work leaning to the side and sitting on one butt cheek. I immediately placed an order on Amazon after reading about the recommended cushion.

Good luck to you! Can't wait to get mine. (Going on 2 long car trips this month.) There are many butt firming exercises online. I am going to look around for an easy one, as I am not a spring chicken!
