10 Reasons To Sprinkle A Little Cinnamon
on 5/20/15 1:16 pm
IMO, the risk of a post like this-- on OH or elsewhere-- is that someone might see that cinnamon supposedly helps blood sugar, and then they may start taking cinnamon pills (or putting some on oatmeal) rather than asking their doctor about insulin.
"Biotin supplements help prevent hair loss after WLS."
"Cinnamon helps arthritis."
Both are unproven, and I think they should be objected to.
We can agree to disagree on this one :)

Yes. I have no problem with suggesting someone sprinkle cinnamon on their oatmeal. But I do have a problem if they suggest that doing so might cure cancer, or lower their blood sugar, etc.

Take what you want from it and leave the rest. At least Julie took the time to look the stuff up. No need for your unnecessary tongue lashing (4furKids). You are still fairly new to this game. A post on cinnamon isn't the end of the world.
OH is not a replacement for your own research and advice from your doctor and shouldn't be expected to be
I saw no need to recreate Julie's excellent research. Surely I can only hope to someday live up to the investigative rigor behind such conclusions as "I read somewhere years ago it helps with the tummy fat." I'm indeed new to the WLS game, but I'm not sure what that has to do with this. None of the claims in this article were specific to WLS. I assure you I have plenty of experience with critical thinking and researching more reliable sources than what typically shows up in a Google search.
OH is not a replacement for advice from your doctor, but in general, their posts tend to be admirably evidence-based. That's why this stood out so much as an aberration.
