Lotion to help extra skin

Hello all. I had a gastric bypass in January 2014. I went from 318 pounds to 157 by November 2014 and my weight hasn't really changed since. About two months ago I started with a personal trainer and have been running and weight lifting every other day. My weight hasn't changed, but I dropped a full size, so obviously I've put on muscle and lost fat. The extra skin on my arms has improved amazingly. There's a little extra skin but I'm not embarrassed to wear a tank top. No real improvement with my stomach or thighs, but nobody but me sees those on a daily basis so who cares.

It occurs to me that I might nudge the skin process along with some super moisturizer. I'm generally pretty skeptical of things like this, but hey, maybe give it a go. Do you all feel that some lotions will help with skin tightening? Is there a product you recommend?

Thanks,

Emma

Nope, lotion isn't going to do a darn thing.

Ha, you pretty much just summarized what I was thinking. Oh well.

Lotion is only great for people that sell lotion. It won't tighten excess skin.

Do not get sucked into thinking that anything you put on top of your skin is going to back it "snap back".  It's a lie:  it will make the skin you have LOOK better ie. smoother, nicer, etc.

While we spent years (and decades) morbidly obese our bodies were busy growing extra skin.  Did you know that?  It's true!  Not only did the skin we have get stretched and damaged via stretch marks, we actually grew extra skin to cover our bulk.

When you lose fat, that skin doesn't evaporate.  It will shrink back a bit but all the exercise and wonderful muscle you create isn't going to fill it out.  You'll end up like me:  rock hard abs that can't be seen under a whole lot of droopy saggy skin.

Dry brushing and moisturizing will do great things to improve the look of your skin.  But nothing outside of plastic surgery is going to tighten it up.

Echoing the others!  You are lucky in that your skin has to some extent tightened up. It doesn't for most people. Exercise tones the muscle but does nothing for the skin.

Lotions smell nice, make your skin feel nice and soft ....  And make lots of money for the manufacturers. But do nothing else!

Highest 290, Banded - 248   Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.

Happily banded since May 2006.  Regain of 28lbs 2013-14.  ALL GONE!

But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,

Thanks guys. This is pretty much what I figured but thought it was worth asking. Yes, I realize I'm lucky my skin has tightened up so much, and I'm super pleased about it. The arms were what were bothering me and make me count down the days until I can get plastic surgery. So, I'll be thankful for what I have and wait until I can get the skin removed.

Thanks!

P.S. Also, NSV, I have visible arm muscles! It's awesome!

While you are waiting, do lot of exfoliating and use lotions with anti-cellulite.  The Nivea Q-10 cream is pretty cheap and pretty amazing.  I used to buy anti-cellulite creams in Europe when they were not available in the U.S.  It does not eliminate the extra skin but really makes it look good.
