What are the best online food journals?
Myfitnesspal. It is so popular that it has a massive food database, which makes finding what you want so much easier. People also add in foods with different modifications. I have added things like restaurant sandwiches with half the bread, which you can find if you search, and I enter all of my recipes. Also, it allows you to adjust your goals by setting whatever calorie goal you want and raising the percentage of protein while lowering the percentage of carbs.

Ditto!!! MFP. Very user friendly and easy to set up. Good luck with the journaling! It is such a very, very important and helpful tool for keeping you honest with yourself and healthy.

I've tried a bunch, starting back with the old Diet Power program before there were web-based options, and MyFitnessPal is hands-down the easiest to use and has the best food database. The only caveat is that since everything is user-submitted, you need to be careful that the stats on the foods you log are actually correct. I logged a cup of skim milk every morning for almost a year before realizing the particular entry I chose among the skim milk options somehow had no sugar listed!
MFP recently added a "verified food" feature to help you avoid selecting a food choice that was entered by a member incorrectly. I've been using it since I started my preop diet and love it. It syncs with Map My Walk so my exercise is automatically calculated.
