How long before you stopped your painkillers?
When you feel you can. And how long that will be depends on you and on which surgery you have! I never took any once I left the hospital, 6 hours post-op.
Highest 290, Banded - 248 Lowest 139 (too thin!). Comfort zone 155-165.
Happily banded since May 2006. Regain of 28lbs 2013-14. ALL GONE!
But some has returned! Up to 175, argh! Off we go again,
Depends on how much pain you can tolerate. I didn't take any when I came home from the hospital because I wasn't in any significant pain. Your mileage may vary.

I needed them for just over a week after I got home from the hospital. I had to call to get more and they denied giving me any. They acted as though I was just looking for more pills! I was really in a TON of pain and ended up getting through a few more days borrowing from family members. I normally HATE taking pills but I had the triple crown surgery (lap band out-RNY done-Gall bladder out) and I was pretty miserable. I really resented the way they treated me but I was thankful to my family for helping me get through it! Even in my case, where I was in such bad shape...It was just over a week. It seems like most people don't feel quite as bad as I did so I'd say a week is the MAX!!! Good Luck with everything!!!
