Please Help!! 7 days out and still having extreem nausea!
I have tried everything I can think of to get rid of this horrible taste in my mouth and the constant nausea. I brush my teeth often, I've taken the liquid nausea meds prescribed, I tried sugar free cinnamon hard candy, ( I know! But I'm desperate). It has been extreemly hard to drink my liquids because EVERYTHING taste horrible!!
I had the same problem. 4 weeks oyt and it is getting better. My doctor had me try G2 and I could actually tolerate it! I was super excited. I just found protein I could tolerate and stuck with that. Eggfaces ricotta bake was a win for me and dannon fit & light yogurt. For liquids I also drank fairlife skim milk because it had high protein. I wasn't as high on liquids or proteins but my doctor said to just do my best and it would turn around.... He was right!
I'm so sorry to hear that you are struggling right now. I found that using Crystal Light or something similar helped me tolerate fluids. If you have a two ounce measure, or a shot glass try using that to make sure that you are getting in the necessary fluids. Your biggest enemy right now is dehydration, so it's important that you get in the fluids. If you use a two ounce measure and drink that at the top of the hour, quarter hour, half hour, 3/4 hour... you can have a liquid protein at the top or bottom of the hour instead of some clear liquids. That may help. At this point, you may want your liquids to be neither hot nor cold, but in between as you are healing. Later, you may do better.
If you continue to have issues with nausea, it's important that you keep a log of your intake and how you are feeling and then contact your program to let them know what's happening and ask them for guidance and support.
While everyone's recovery varies somewhat from one person to another, please know that this will get better, much better.

Dehydration can cause nausea. You must drink, doesn't matter if it tastes good or not. You must do it. Change the temperature, try tea, crystal light, sugar free ice lollies, room temp water. Keep trying. It is too important. It will get better....

Ditto on others' suggestions to pump the fluids. Try as many different things as you can-- Crystal Light, SF Mio, SF lemonade mix, tea, etc.-- and try different temperatures as well. SF popsicles also count towards liquids, I had an easier time with those at first.
Ketosis can cause a gross taste in your mouth, and drinking doesn't always help. SF mints are OK'ed by some programs (call your doctor to check) and they helped me at least.

I was having similar problems. Cold and room temperature hurt and made me nauseous. One of the OH posters suggested hot tea and that helped. Ginger tea has helped with my nausea first thing in the morning. It's tough getting the fluids in when your queasy. Good luck.
Carpe Diem!
