Wine is fine..........as long as you have all the fixings that go with it.    Wine should be considered fruit I guess...so be sure to have the cheese first (protein).

.

Your five day pouch test should be a huge success!

or should I just bite the bullet and go to bed lol

First of all the 5 day pouch test is a bunch of bogus crap someone made up.

As for the wine, well if you want to gain weight or have a transfer addiction have at it.  Hell why stop at a glass drink the whole dam bottle.

You are not even a year out or at goal and you want to drink wine why?

I am still pre-op, but one of the things I have been instructed to do is have NO liquid calories. NO milk, juices, sodas, etc....mainly water or water w/0 calorie add-ins like Crystal Light.

the entire focus of my nutrition classes is about learning to eat healthily after the surgery to avoid regaining the weight. If we start back w/the sodas, sweet teas & alcohol...all heavily sugar based...we are setting ourselves up for failure.

Also, I believe...but am not sure there is a strong correlation between food addiction & alcoholism. So if we curb the food addiction we are likely to substitute w/other things & alcohol may be one of them. I have read ppl on the boards talking about developing a drinking problem after surgery.

Just food for thought...no pun intended!

Wine is not an acceptable liquid on the bogus 5-Day Pouch test or on any plan while you're trying to lose weight.  It's hard to determine the sincerity of your post since you added a "LOL" at the end.

Why do you think you need the bogus 5-Day Pouch test?  Would you like to elaborate?

Thank you all for answering me. I was simply looking for support, I did not drink the wine, I thought about it, but didn't. Just like the regular food cravings we all face day to day. And for the post about me not hitting my goal, the goal my team gave me was 225, so YES, I did hit it. 180 is my personal goal. I don't see why people got so torn up about a post.

I am losing weight, but wanted to see what the whole craze was with this 5 day pouch test.

so relax everyone, I DID NOT drink the wine...

The reaction to your question wasn't about the notion of drinking a glass of wine. It is that you asked it in reference to the 5 day pouch test, a fad diet to lose weight. It would be like asking if you could have a milkshake while dieting. Of course you can, but not if you expect to lose weight.

Your GOAL was 225? That seems awfully high

it was with the clinic, they wanted us to lose a percentage of the excess weight that we had to lose.

I remember thinking, "as if I would do this to remain overweight"

obviously I will continue losing, but it was a numbers game.

Hi Gina!

I had commented on this thread earlier & was following up when I read your above post.

I am pre-op, 5'9 and currently down 32 pounds from my highest weight of 350 back in Jan this year.My personal weight loss goal is between 225 & 240 which I haven't weighed since before I hit 30. I carried it well with no problem...no doubt b/c I was tall & younger.

Since I am in my late 50's I am concerned with going lower for a variety of reasons unless I am unable to 'cure' some of my obesity-related comorbidities.

I'd like your opinion on whether you think my goal is also too high given the above...
