Hi Suze, I'm in Puyallup!  =)

If you're interested in consignment, have you tried Two Big Blondes?  They're in Seattle.

Also, just an fyi, I learned to avoid saying anything about a "mother of the bride/groom" dress.  The prices are ridiculous. Stick to bridesmaid dresses as suggested above, or just look for "evening" dresses.  You'll get better prices and also more stylish clothing.

Oh and BTW, Congratulations!

I am the same exact weight as you but 5'2. I have not had surgery yet and I'm still wondering whether I should or not. First things first wearing a tight but comfortable ( body armour) is key. Empire waist dress and cross over in bust dress are flattering to any shape especially a large frame. So places I shop Ross, Marshall's, Macy's Woman, Sears, Burlington Coat Factory.

If a 24 isn't too big to get tailored, I have an empire-waist marine blue dress from David's Bridal I'll sell ya for cheap!

Congratulations on the upcoming wedding!! I am in the same situation with my daughter getting married on June 6. I shopped online at Nordstrom and also Dillards. Both had great selections of plus size dresses, some reasonably priced, some quite expensive. I finally decided on a VM Collection dress from Dillards that fits me now that hopefully I can have taken in if needed closer to the date.
