Everything sounds blah!
Aww thanks for the smile.
You gave yourself the BEST ADVICE... "just trying your best each day" I remember thinking WTH did I do, did it have to come to this, how will I live like this forever, cried a lot and not little tears, big ugly cries... there was no light at the end of the tunnel that I could see... then... I started to feel stronger, I got a little system going with food & vits & water... it doesn't hurt to see those #'s on the scale going down either.... fresh air & walking helped too and there it was the light at the end of the tunnel... that led to some pretty AWESOME places!! You will get there too.
Definitely felt like this I did not care to eat anything I forced myself to eat because I knew I had to. When you get to soft foods there is more variety so it will pass, u just have to suck it up and make sure you get your protein in and stay hydrated that's most important!
I am only a few days ahead of you on surgery. I noticed that, at about the 1 week mark, I could take bigger sips. It really helped me, but we have to just keep sipping and trying. Every vet who says it gets easier is speaking truth! Don't give up, as the fluids are essential to survival and recovery.
I am only 10 days out from surgery. All I'm allowed to eat is protein shakes (very concentrated, 3oz per meal). I can have clear liquids, SF Popsicle, SF jello. Boy oh boy it's not easy. I've started calling these concentrated protein concoctions "battle rations", like the MRE's our soldiers get on the front lines of battle. Not inedible but not appetizing, yet absolutely essential to keeping me fueled for this battle. That's all this is right now, fuel.
As Mo suggested, I am just white knuckling it until Monday. At this point I am really looking forward to puréed foods. I even started menu planning. Everything sounds very appetizing to me at this point, but as you said, this could change by Sunday. I bet that, when something other than a protein shake crosses your lips, you will be glad. No matter what, let's just dig in and fuel our bodies for this battle. Every veteran says it gets easier and food becomes appetizing again, so let's trust in that! I know I do :-)

137 pounds lost - from a 24/26W to a size 8/10!
I am 6 years post laprascopic RNY, and I can still remember the days after surgery. I love "sweets", but the last few days before I switched to pureed foods, I was sick of anything sweet, and I was tired of constantly eating/drinking. Seemed like I just finished one protein drink and it was time for another. It does get better - I was so GLAD to get onto pureed foods!!! Hang in there! Time is your best friend and patience is your second. You will get there...one day at a time!

To the vets *****plied, what if I'm not getting my protein and water in? I mean I am TRYING but it's just not happening yet. I know that will make me more tired, but can it hurt in other ways?
