Everything sounds blah!

I'm in the full liquid stage, moving on to pureed tomorrow but for the past three days, my stomach just feels icky and everything sounds blah. I have been craving the tuna for so long and now NOTHING sounds good. I don't even want to eat. Has anyone been through this or felt this?

Definitely, but I felt like this frequently before surgery too. The difference was that before surgery, the hunger eventually drove me to eat (and probably to eat something unhealthy). Now, I just have to force myself to eat. I tell myself that if I don't eat something, then I will have to drink a protein shake, and I really don't want to drink the protein shake. You have to figure out how to get protein in somehow. Starting pureeds tomorrow should help.

Yep -- quite common.

Right now, your job is to stay hydrated and get your protein needs met.  Even if nothing 'sounds good' ----

You can go for a while without food, but hydration is paramount --- so, make sure you are drinking, even if you don't want to.

There is NOTHING as boring as the food regimen you have to follow immediately after surgery.  All you can do is white knuckle it and realize that it will not last forever.

It's crucial that you get in plenty of protein to help your body heal and drink a minimum of 64 ounces of fluids.  If you don't, you risk a trip to the ER for dehydration and that's no bueno.

It gets better.  This is such a small window of time in the grand scheme of things.  Just do what you have to do and eventually it will be over.

Mo said it well... for months - about 5, nothing tasted really good. 5 weeks out I thought I would puke if I had to drink another protein drink... I got through by discovering coffee flavored protein - Click and Fit Frappe. It gets easier...

I'm not NYMom (well I am a NY mom, but you know...LOL) but I get my Click Mocha through amazon.com.  I've found that it's the cheapest.  Plus, if you have prime it ships free!

The first few weeks are really not pleasant... and your healing, and still full of anesthesia, drugs so that adds to the icky feeling.

Try and think of food as fuel... you want your fat burning furnace to burn fat... so you want to give it some fuel. Otherwise... like a bear in winter it will fear the lack of provisions and hold on to dear life to what you have (that doesn't last of course but we're biologically made to try.)

Here's a few of my favs back then hope it give you a few ideas (the Baked Ricotta made me feel human)

Oh my gosh, my first response from the famous eggface!!!! I feel honored, lol. I had been excited for the ricotta bake for a LONG time but again, now it sounds blah. But I will try it at some point!

Thank you everyone for your responses! I have seen SO many people post on here that this surgery was the BEST decision of their lives and I KNOW I'll get there at some point, I'm just struggling right now! I'm trying so hard each day to get the protein/water amount in and I haven't hit it yet. Close, but no cigar. Just trying my best each day.
