I do not own a fancy phone. can the fitbit be used with a computer that is not an Apple?

Yes, I had a Samsung Galaxy Note 2 b4 I switched to the iPhone & it worked just fine.

Yes they have a regular website that can be used from any internet enabled device that has a usb port. So you should still be good.

Yes. My husband uses his with a PC and only accesses his data via the website dashboard. When you have your dongle plugged in and are 15 ft away from it downloads. In order to download on a smart phone it needs to have the wifi turned on and be logged into your dashboard when you are away from home.
