killed the box springs
My bf and I have destroyed our box springs and are in need of a new bed. We are thinking of getting eliminating the box springs and just putting our mattress on a foundation of some sort until we can move and get a larger bed. Right now we have a full size bed. The mattress seems to be ok, but the box springs are toast. I need something that will support our weight ( about 560 combined plus the weight of our mattress and about 200 lbs of four legged fur.) Any recommendations on mattresses, foundations, foldable steel foundations, and our bed frames from ikea. I'm open to wherever I would just like to not spend a ton until we move and have space for a nice California king.
Check out Brylane's Platform Bed - no boxsprings, and extra storage space. It's around $329. Now that I've seen it, I might just get one myself. I am in dire need of a new mattress myself.
Ikea, they have planks that go across, and if you go in the as is section you can get one usually for $100 or so

I was never really crazy about Ikea furniture but it does help in a pinch cuz its kinda like throwaway furniture.
Definitely look into getting a platform/captains bed. No box spring needed it's just a big piece of wood that you throw a mattress on top of, with a couple of draws at the bottom. I've had mine for years, I got it from Gothic Cabinet.
When it's time to move, there's only 1 screw to remove, it separates the platform from the drawers, then screw it back in the new place. Easy pezy.

After my husband killed the plastic foundation for our old Sleep Number bed, we got a captain's bed with a Serta iComfort mattress that works great. No box spring, no mattress springs to wear out, and tons of drawers and cubbies for storage. It was fairly expensive though.
A box spring does nothing, you don't need one at all. With the extreme thickness on many mattresses these days, a box spring makes even less sense. Some of them are ultra thin anyway, because of the extra matress thickness.
But kudos on wearing out the old one! Nicely done, both of you.

There are these types of platform frames that will fit into an existing bed if you have one. They have a fabric cover. http://www.sears.com/night-therapy-deluxe-platform-metal-bed -frame-foundation-queen/p-00835628000P?sid=IDx01192011x00000 1&kpid=00835628000&kispla=00835628000P&kpid=00835628000&mktR edirect=y
They sell them all over the Internet. Cheap enough and then find a mattress. Do you belong to Costco,? they have beds in store and online that usually have free delivery. Can sleep on it and then return if you don't like it.
