Lap-band swelling at work?
Hi everyone! So, I've had my band for 6 years now, and I've hit a few bumps along the road, but I feel hopefully my weight-loss should be back on track soon. Throughout my banded time, I've noticed that being in a warm area, or doing a lot of movement quickly seems to irritate my band. I have this environment at work, and I just got a cc a few weeks ago. My stock room is hot, and I'm constantly running around it all day. I've noticed that when I try to drink a water/smoothie/etc I typically bring it up a few minutes later at work. If I sit in our break room, which is noticeably cooler, and remain still I seem to be fine eating/drinking. However, going these long days withou****er isn't fun. Does anyone else have a similar problem, or know a way around it so I can be hydrated at work, with all my running? Thanks!
However uncomfortable the working environment, it can't be right to be regularly so tight you can't keep water down. I hope this is not happening every working day?
All I can suggest is sipping warm water. But in your shoes, if this happened a lot, I would be having saline out not added as you just did.

What Kate said.
Remeber, the band is an immovable object -- it does not swell. Your body tissue moves, swells, relaxes, etc.
If the environment is extremely hot and humid and you are uncomfortable and rushed, it is more likely that you are drinking too fast or too much at one time ----
Regardless of the cause, if you cannot drink enough to stay hydrated, comfortably, you should have some fluid removed from your band.
Oh I agree. My band feels much tighter when it is hot or humid - just as fingers and feet swell, so can the tissue under the band. When I travel in Asia, I often feel tighter. But it is my choice never to keep my band so tight that I am unable to drink - whatever the cir****tances.

Regardless of what the cause is, you're playing a dangerous game if you're tight enough that you're unable to swallow liquids. I would recommend a slight unfill. If at any point you're too tight to tolerate liquids, you're at high risk of causing a PB and, subsequently, a slip or other damage. (And that's coming from someone who had to have a band replaced once already because of a slip and is in the process of revising to RNY because being too tight caused damage and intolerance for the band.)

When I am stressed or rushing around I think what happens is I am taking to big of gulps or I get a pocket of air before the water and it causes issues. I also notice that if I wait too long that my saliva thickens as I become dehydrated and that alone makes my band backed up. Try sipping more, I used to set my phone timer to 15 mins and take a sip as it went off.
Good luck

And acutualy for me I am the opposite, I tent to be tighter in the colder weather. The only thing I can think of is that muscles relax in warmth and heat (Bikram yoga for instance) and they constrict in the cold.
