Set an alarm for 15 minutes and drink every time it goes off. You'll reach your goal that way!

Your body doesn't respond well to excuses, and will instead make you increasingly more tired, nauseous, and may even lead to kidney stones.  You need to find a way to give your body what it needs, even if it means setting an alarm to wake up and drink a few ounces.

Getting in fluids is more important at this point than getting in protein - although both are important.

If you let yourself get dehydrated, you could end up in the ER with an IV.  Sip, sip, and sip again often.  Try beverages at different temperatures.

Look at it this way, if you reach your goal during the day, you can reward yourself with a full night sleep.  If you don't, you'll have to set your alarm to wake up and drink.  That would motivate me!  Best of luck to you.  It isn't easy, but in a couple weeks, you'll be able to practically chug again.

Yeah, I notice that since I really started to drink up (over the past few days), my sips are getting bigger.  I wouldn't come close to calling it is gulp much less a chug, but gosh I look forward to that!

Hey there, I had my surgery 4/6 so basically a surgery twin!

If you are a smartphone user you can even get a fun app that sends you little reminders to drink up.  Whatever it takes to help.

I have a 32 oz water bottle and I know I have to drink two of those.  Yes, many other liquids (broth, SF Popsicles, sf jello, shake) also counts but I am trying to get 64 oz of water itself.  So I fill it up first thing in the morning and shoot to have the bottle empty before lunch, and refill. I don't go to sleep until the second fill is done. I take that bottle with me everywhere. This is working for me so far.  YMMV of course!

The water is tough, I agree, but we have to just battened down the hatches and make it work.

Bottoms up!

Christine
