Thank you so much! I have only seen my surgeon twice once at 2 weeks and at 2 months ... I haven't seen him since but I keep calling the office and I talk to the nurse or the dietician. .. never have they let me tall to the surgeon .. they will send him messages and then relay his message to me. It's so frustrating!  But I have continued to tell them this!  How I'm still on liquids and vomiting every thing else and they just continue to say that as long as I'm getting my protein In "I should be fine" ... but hitting a weight loss of 100 lbs by 4 months really got me concerned, after getting blow off again and setting my appt up with him for next week..I started trying to find information. .. especially since I'm already almost at goal weight...what's gonna happen if I don't stop losing?! That's what worries me!

Does your PCP speak "WLS"?  Many are unschooled about bariatric surgery and complications, but hopefully yours will listen to you re: the stricture.  An EDG is not particularly a specialist proce dure, and your PCP might be able to help you sooner than waiting for a week to speak to your surgeon.

For now, if you can only do liquids easily, I'd strongly suggest that you increase your protein drinks.  Do full fat milk, and a good high level protein powder.  I like the GNC and Syntrax Nectars, but most drugstores will carry adequate pre-mixed or even just the powders.

Hang in there, Kid.

Lol aww Thank you!!  Lol. I actually have an appt with my New pcp on Monday!  I'm gonna bring this ALL up to him, I have all my notes ready!!! You've been awesome! I'm really enjoying these banana creme lean muscle protein shakes I am finding at the gas station!  I'm sick of powerade zero and putting the plain protein powder in it! Too sweet for me! I have a GNC on my corna I'm gonna have to go check out....

also, what DOES happen to my body if I've lost all the weight I need to? Do I just keep losing till there is nothing left?  Do I start losing muscle and bone and all that? I think that is my biggest worry NOW... what happens when you have lost all the extra weight?   I've always been big boned and muscular. .. from playing sports all my life... I've blown out both knees and have had 6 reconstructive knee surgeries already. ..one a big reason for needing to lose the weight to have my replacement knees done and not having the extra weight on them... but at this point I can't even lay on my side with my legs on top of each other... it's literally bone on bone and excruciating. .. bone on bone touching each other and literally bone on bone inside as well...ugh. Ya, I'm a mess. Haha

Some people do end up losing too much weight. There are various things you can do to slow it down or stop it. Some people need to take pancreatic enzymes to help them digest and absorb their food better, but most people just eat more carbs. THIS IS NOT A GOOD IDEA, because in a few months your malabsorption is going to get a lot less, and if you're in the habit of eating carbs you're going to see some regain. A few people wind up having to have their surgery reversed.

As long as you're getting enough protein, you won't lose much muscle. (Everybody loses a little. The idea is to keep as much muscle as you can. Do you exercise?) How about vitamins? What and how much are you taking?

I'd almost bet you have a stricture, and your new PCP should be able to set you up with a non-WLS surgeon who can dilate it for you. They might even be able to do that if you go to the ER.

It seems there are two issues here, which may or may not be related.

One is not being able to eat solid food and the other is not being able to see yourself as thin.

The second issue is not uncommon but if you are having emotional issues around your weight loss and body image it could cause you to have difficulties eating.

Most of us don't "feel" thin.  Thin is not a feeling, it is a body type.  I don't know about you but I sure didn't feel morbidly obese, either.

To this day I still feel like I am wearing a thin suit sometimes.  But you know what?  I have finally accepted that my feelings are not a good indicator of what is reality for me.  If I wear a normal size in clothing and everyone around me tells me that I am normal sized then I am just going to have to believe them and not my own skewed perceptions.  Whether I feel like I am thin or fat doesn't make me so.

Anyway, the first thing you need to do is find out if you have a stricture.  Contact your insurance ASAP and find a doctor you can see who can do an EGD and find out and if you do have one it can be treated.

If you don't have a stricture (or maybe even if you do) find a counselor who deals with body issues to help you come to terms with your changing body image.

Since you are still smoking you get what you put into it. You are probably loaded with ulcers.

I smoked for 27 yrs. You hurt your credibility when you claim its "unlit". It's sad that you can't be honest about that because most likely you are full of ulcers because of it. Smoking is the worst thing a postop RNY patient can do.

?!?!  I am not a smoker? ? What are you talking about?  "My credibility " over what?! Wow... some people.... I was holding a cigarette in a picture... I don't need to explain myself at all but it's ridiculous that you continue on about this... i was holding my neighbors cigarette whIle we were in my garage. ..she went to go grab her kid and I took a picture of myself.... like I said, I don't smoke... and if I did I wouldn't have a problem saying so as I'm trying to find out what could be wrong with me... I surely wouldn't deny smoking after everything I've already opened up about... smoking wouldn't be something I would have left out??   But thanks for your thoughts anyways
