Caloric intake after surgery
You need to tell us which surgery you are having. It varies dramaticslly between surgeries and even then, individuals with the same surgery take in dufferent amounts.

Funny u said that becausr I tell people that I have no time for anything because I have two full time jobs now lol but idk what's "ideal" as far as calorie intake but I'm about 7weeks post op and im taking in between 400-600 calories a day, I'm still on soft foods so it's very hard for me to meet my protien goals with food alone so I've been drinking more shakes lately, I mostly concentrate on my protien and fluid intake not so much on calories only because it's still so early out and eat so very little!
Hi Nikky - you really don't need to focus on calories at this point. If you are working on getting 64 oz. of water and 60-80 grams of protein per day, the calories work out. 400-600 per day sounds perfect for where you're at.
Once you transition to solid food with dense protein you'll just want to make sure those calories are staying in the 800 per day area. More important though is keeping those carbs in check - no rice, no flour, no pasta, no sugar. Try to keep carbs to 40 grams per day or less and you'll do great.
But it depends on the surgery! Banded people (which you probably aren't!) have 1200 a day when they are on solid foods.

If you'll put your surgery type and date on your profile, it will show up each time you post. This info helps us help you.
It depends a LOT on surgery type. I have a DS, and my surgeon's goal for me was to be getting AT LEAST 1500 calories by the time I was six months out. At 5-6 weeks out, I'd guess I was eating about a 1000 calories a day---but what I focused on was getting as much protein and fluids as possible.
I was told at my one month post-op I wasn't eating enough, (I was getting at least 80g of protein but only about 600 cal\day). My Coord told me to work up to 1000-1200. It took me a few weeks to get there, (it get easier when you can eat solid food again), but I managed by adding snacks, (cheese sticks, Greek yogurt, etc., and changing to regular eggs and cheese. Never really been much of a milk person, but I use 2% rather than skim now. Maintained the 1000-1200\day through the weight loss phase trying to vary the intake higher one day, lower the next and lost slow and steady to goal.
Sweat is fat crying
I am seven weeks out from RNY and am eating about 500-600 calories per day. MFP puts my average at 580. I have a dietician appt. next Tuesday and expect to hear I'm probably not eating enough because my protein comes out to 65-70 most days. Though I am probably taller than you-6', but my BMI is 29.something too. I have been trying to get the protein from food rather than shakes but do still have to have 1/2 to 1 shake per day.
